Industry Beans

Industry Beans
Warehouse 3, Cnr Rose & Fitzroy Streets
Fitzroy 3
065

Oh boy. There is just so much happening in the Melbourne coffee scene at the moment. New places are opening all the time, at a pace I can't keep up with, and the standard just keeps raising. My latest 'discovery': Industry Beans. This place in itself summarised where coffee is at in Melboune: They source, they roast, they house a cafe where you can sample coffee with the becoming-typical array of espresso and brewing options and of course they sell own-brand take-home beans.

Garage Espresso

garage espresso
126a chapel st
st kilda
VIC 3182

I drove past this place recently due to roadworks on Carlisle St - sometime a diversion is a good thing! I took mental note and then last night a friend with kids at St Kilda Primary recommended it. It has been a while since I have had a relaxing 2 hour sit down in a cafe over coffee, fruit toast and a story to write.

Not only did I enjoy my morning in this laid back, friendly space but I have now made a start on Espresso Tales Volume Two. A good morning indeed.

Alice Nivens

Alice Nivens.
13/228 Flinders St,
Port Philip Arcade
Melbourne 3000

This is such a cute spot and so handy for those entering the city from Finders St Station or Fed Square trams. This slightly daggy mall did not tend to entice  - not when Degraves Street is just a few more meters up the road - but that may all change now. If you love to treat yourself to quality 'home' baking and an excellent coffee (Clement's) then this may well become your new route to the city too!

Dukes Coffee (CBD)

Dukes Coffee Roasters
247 Flinders Lane
Melbourne CBD

What an addition to the CBD coffee scene.  This is a beautiful space - note the stunning tiled floor and the bespoke timber finishes on counters and walls. Seating is limited and most customers were ordering take-away coffee - but even if just to take away this space is well worth visiting. Beautifully finished, warm vibe to this laneway hideout.
